It’s not easy to be a parent. With school activities and after-school activities and real-life responsibilities, life becomes a chaotic whirlwind of go-go-go. So how can you deal with it? Shutting your eyes isn’t going to do too much, but maybe a little organization will go a long way. What is that old saying? Cleanliness is next to godliness. If you apply some structure into the chaotic daily routine, it’s going to run much more smoothly. Here are a few tips to get you on the organizational path.

1. The Entryway

This can be an official checkpoint of sorts. After all, this is where all of the traffic of your home leaves and returns. You just need to add a little efficiency: a basket for shoes, hooks for coats and backpacks, and a tray for school papers. You can really utilize the area by reserving it to collect those important documents (field trip slips, homework, report card, etc.) from your child’s backpack and putting them into the tray. This way you are keeping the documents in one place.

2. The Car

Unless you are a traveling by boat or aircraft, you are navigating your children and yourself around in a car. Keep the car clean, but more importantly, keep the car stocked. Keep items handy; things like non-perishable snacks, extra outfits, bottles of water, and diapers. Something clever like an emergency twenty dollar bill just may be the ace up your sleeve.

3. The Morning Rush – Plug and Play

The morning rush can be exhilarating and is best attacked the prior night. Packing lunches the night before and having a breakfast plan will ensure that all food for the day is handled. To save yourself more time, be sure that your child’s school materials and clothes are all ready for the next day. This method is easy to deploy and is a kind of plug and play tactic.
